Questions
Does it cost anything to enter?
No. Entry is completely free and no purchase is needed.
Does my child need fishing experience?
Not at all. First-timers are just as welcome as kids who have been fishing since they could walk. The crew will handle the boat and teach along the way.
Can a parent help write the essay?
A parent can help with spelling and typing, but the ideas and the story should come from the student.
Can my child submit a handwritten essay?
Yes. Take a clear, well-lit photo of the page and upload it with the form.
What happens if the weather is bad on trip day?
Safety comes first. If conditions are not safe offshore, the trip will be rescheduled to a date that works for the winner's family and the crew.
Will the trip be filmed?
It may be filmed for the Ron and Rimmer Outside channel and social media. The winner's parent or guardian will sign a media release before the trip.

Official rules
- No purchase necessary to enter or win. Void where prohibited.
- Open to legal residents of the United States ages 17 and under at the time of entry. Entries must be submitted by the student's parent or legal guardian, who confirms the student wrote the essay.
- Limit one entry per student. Entries must be received by [DEADLINE DATE] at 11:59 PM Central Time. Late, incomplete, or illegible entries will not be considered.
- The winner will be selected by Ron and Rimmer based on which essay they judge most deserving. All decisions are final.
- The prize is one fishing trip for the winner and one parent or legal guardian aboard the Cheeseburger with the Cheeseburger Sportfishing Team. The prize has no cash value and cannot be transferred. Travel, lodging, meals, and fishing licenses (if required) are not included unless stated otherwise.
- The winner will be notified by phone or email and must respond within 7 days, or an alternate winner may be selected.
- The winner's parent or guardian must sign a liability waiver and media release before the trip. The trip date is subject to weather and sea conditions and may be rescheduled for safety.
- By entering, the parent or guardian grants permission for the essay, the student's first name, and hometown to be shared by Ron and Rimmer Outside and Shaggy's.
- This contest is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube.

Who we are

Who sees it
Entries are read by Ron, Rimmer, and the small team helping run the contest. We use trusted service providers, such as our website and form platform, to collect and store entries. They may only use the information to provide that service to us. As stated in the official rules, we may share an entrant's essay, first name, and hometown. We never share a student's last name, age, or contact information publicly without separate written permission from the parent or guardian.
We never sell or rent your information.
Text messages
If you opt in to text messages, we will only text about this contest. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Your phone number and text opt-in will not be shared with third parties for their marketing.
Children's privacy
This contest is for young anglers, so entries must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. If you believe a child submitted an entry without a parent's involvement, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep it
We delete entries that did not win within 90 days after the winner is announced, unless you opted in to hear from us, in which case we keep only your contact information. We keep the winning entry and trip records as long as needed for the trip, the related video content, and legal purposes.
Your choices
A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to review, correct, or delete their information or their child's entry. You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email, and opt out of texts by replying STOP.
Keeping it safe
We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information you send us. No system is perfectly secure, so we collect only what we need to run the contest.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
